I’m a Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) teacher, trainer and supervisor.
I moved to the UK in 1979, having graduated from university in Sweden. In 2006 I met Professor Mark Williams and began my training as an MBCT Teacher. I was then invited to join Mark’s team and became involved in developing the Oxford Mindfulness Centre (OMC).
I worked initially as part of the research team, teaching patients with recurring depression the 8-week MBCT course, and in 2011 I initiated the delivery of the courses to the general population. I was also responsible for managing the training of clinicians, within the Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust.
I’ve continued to offer supervision in the Health Service, both in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. I have trained new teachers nationally and internationally for a number of years.
My background is primarily in adult mental health, within the NHS, health and social care and the voluntary sectors. As an experienced mental health practitioner, therapeutic (CBT) group worker and Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) teacher, trainer and supervisor, I have a particular interest in working with people experiencing depression, anxiety and a range of mental health issues, and I’m a keen advocate for de-stigmatising mental ill-health.
Up until August 2020, I was the MBCT course lead at Oxford Mindfulness, where I managed the delivery of the MBCT courses to the general population, as well as teaching the courses myself, and now work solely as a freelance teacher, trainer and supervisor.
I remain involved with Oxford Mindfulness as a freelance teacher, teaching primarily the 8-week MBCT-L courses and Days of Practice. I supervise Masters students, trainee teachers and experienced teachers, mostly within psychological treatment services, both in the UK and internationally.
I’m particularly keen to support new teachers on their teaching journey.
“I feel incredibly fortunate to continue to be involved in delivering a programme that makes such a difference in people’s lives, including my own.“
